On April 3rd, 2025, the Polish Archaeological Institute in Athens hosted a lecture by Prof. Krzysztof Nawotka entitled “Facing Challenges of Siltation of a Sea Gulf in Antiquity: Dissimilar Cases of Priene and Miletos.”
In his presentation, Professor Nawotka discussed the transformation of the coastline in the area of ancient Miletos, focusing on environmental changes and their impact on urban development in antiquity.
The event was also attended by representatives of the newly established Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens, led by its director, Prof. Li Xinwei. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for direct exchange and dialogue between members of both institutions.
The lecture was followed by a lively discussion which continued into the late evening hours, a testament to the inspiration offered by our distinguished guest.
