We are delighted to announce that Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU) has purchased another property in Athens, which will enable the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens (PAIA) to expand its facilities and increase its organisational capacity. The newly acquired property is a flat situated directly above the Institute’s existing headquarters, in the same building.
The purchase agreement was signed at a notary’s office in Athens by Dr Marcin Wysocki, Chancellor of the University, acting on behalf of the Rector of AMU, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska.
The finalisation of the purchase and signing of the agreement coincided with the fifth anniversary of the official opening of the Institute’s headquarters, which took place on 26 October 2021.
The newly acquired premises will make it possible to establish a conference room accommodating up to 50 people for lectures and academic and cultural events, as well as providing workspace for researchers visiting Athens.
Until now, the Institute’s activities have been concentrated in a single small room, which has served simultaneously as an office, library and conference room. The expansion of its facilities will significantly improve working conditions, enable a broader programme of academic and cultural events, and provide better facilities for researchers hosted by the Institute.
