On Wednesday, June 19th, the 3rd Annual Meeting of the PAIA (for 2023) took place at the École Française d’Athènes. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Kazimierz Lewartowski, Chairman of the Academic Board of PAIA, who welcomed the numerous guests. Then, the floor was given to the Polish Ambassador to Athens, Mr. Artur Lompart, who is finishing his 4-year term. In his speech, the Ambassador spoke about the fruitful cooperation between PAIA and the Embassy, as well as the extraordinary development of the Institute and its contribution to promoting Polish science and culture in Greece. After the speech, the Director of PAIA, Prof. Janusz Czebreszuk, and the Deputy Director, Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka thanked the Ambassador for the help and great support he had provided to PAIA, and as a farewell, they gave him a copy of an archaeological object. Then, Prof. Janusz Czebreszuk presented the Report on the activities of PAIA for 2023, after which Dr. Christopher Hale (Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology Polish Academy of Sciences) gave a lecture entitled: “Multiscale Networks at Middle Bronze Age Mitrou: Results from the REgional Networks and LOcal Recipes for Complexity project” presenting the results of his research conducted in cooperation with PAIA. The meeting was attended by many distinguished guests, including Mrs. Konstantina Benisi, Director of the Foreign Schools Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Hellenic Republic, Dr. Panagiotis Moudzouridis (our supervisor at the Foreign Schools Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Hellenic Republic), Prof. Jenny Wallensten, Director of the Swedish Institute at Athens, Dr. Sanne Hoffmann, Director of the Danish Institute at Athens, Prof. Inga Głuszek and Prof. Krzysztof Nawotka – members of the Academic Board of PAIA, Prof. Konstantinos Vouvalidis, Ms. Anna Sardis, Director of the Polish School “Zygmunt Mineyko” at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens, Mr. Marek Nadolski, Dr. Jorgos Doulfis, Dr. Edyta Marzec, Dr. Sylviane Dederix, a large group of people friends of the Institute, as well as many young scientists from other foreign institutes. After the conference, the informal part of the Annual Meeting took place in the gardens of EFA. It was an opportunity to improve contacts, exchange ideas and discuss plans for the future.
