On May 7th, 2025, to commemorate the 3rd May Contitution Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens organized a formal reception, opened with a speech by chargé d’affaires a.i. Wojciech Ponikiewski. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, Greek authorities, Polish diaspora communities, as well as scientific and cultural circles, including representatives of the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens.
On behalf of the Government of the Hellenic Republic, Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Stefanos Gkikas participated in the event. In his address, he referred to the enduring and friendly relations between Poland and Greece, highlighting numerous historical and cultural similarities between the two nations.
Deputy Minister Gkikas also mentioned the activities of the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens as a significant element of scientific and cultural cooperation between Poland and Greece. Furthermore, he emphasized the potential for further development of bilateral relations, particularly in the context of the Three Seas Initiative and cooperation in the maritime economy sector.
The Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens acknowledges with appreciation the mention of its work and the expressions of support for the continued strengthening of Polish-Greek scientific and cultural cooperation.
