On June 9-10, 2023, Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of PolandElżbieta Witek visited Athens. During her visit Elżbieta Witek met with representatives of the local Polish community and donated a flag to the Polish School in Athens. She also met with representatives of the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens. The meeting, which took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens, was attended by: the Head of the Chancellery of the Sejm, Agnieszka Kaczmarska, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Athens, Artur Lompart, PAIA Director prof. Janusz Czebreszuk, General Secretary of PAIA in Athens, Beata Kukiel-Vraila M.A. and Dr. Anastasia Chatzigiannidi, a Polish language teacher at University of Athens. During the meeting, Prof. Czebreszuk talked about the creation of the Institute, its functioning and cooperation with Greek institutions, and Polish field research in Greece. Ms Kukiel-Vraila discussed PAIA’s cultural activities, and plans for the future. The conversation was very fruitful. The Marshal of the Sejm was very interested in the activities of Polish archaeologists and promised to come back to Greece to visit excavations conducted under PAIA auspices.
