Rafał Blechacz, world-renowned Polish pianist and winner in the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005, was a guest of the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens. The artist, who visited the Greek capital for the first time, performed with Sinfonia Varsovia at Athens’ Megaro Mousikis on Saturday, April 1. The concert, which attracted a large international audience was organized with the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens.
At Sunday’s meeting with students of the Zygmunt Mineyko Polish School in Athens at the institute’s headquarters, the artist talked about his passions – music and philosophy, and answered questions from students about how to develop and nurture talent, and make good life choices. We are glad that we could contribute to the organization of this meeting! Many thanks to Mr. Blechacz for accepting our invitation and to students from the Polish School for a lively and interesting discussion.
We also extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Blanca Gołaszewska, head of the Sinfonia Varsovia impresariat, and Ms. Anna Sardis, head of the Polish School in Athens, for their help in organizing the meeting.
An interview with Rafał Blechacz conducted by Beata Kukiel-Vraila, General Secretary at Athens and Cultural Programme Manager of PAIA, is published on our website.
