The latest presentation of the book “Archaeology Without Makeup” by Beata Kukiel-Vraila, took place on October 29th in our headquaters at Athens. The meeting was very lively and attracted many guests. Among them were Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka, vice-director of PAIA and one of the book’s protagonists , but also many representatives of the Polish community in Greece, including Mrs Anna Sardis, director of the Polish School at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens. We also had a special honor of hosting Mr Michał Zawisza, Consul of the Republic of Poland in Athens. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Janusz Czebreszuk, director of PAIA. This was the last event related to this book this year, but we are already planning further meetings in spring 2026 – the first one will take place on March 26th at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the Uniwersity of Warsaw.
The bilingual (Polish–English) book “Archaeology Without Makeup” is the first publication in the PAIA Culture series. It was funded by the Faculty of History of the Jagiellonian University, within the framework of the Strategic Programme Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The book consists of interviews with outstanding female researchers associated with PAIA, who have challenged stereotypes related to the position of women in science.
