On the 26th of October we have officially opened the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens. The opening ceremony took place in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens in the presence of Viceminister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland – Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Greece – Georgios Didaskalou, Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań – Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Greece – Artur Lompart and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Cyprus, Irena Lichenrowicz Augustyn. On the same, at the Institute, the official cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań was signed by Viceminister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk and Rector Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska. Afterwards, the cooperation agreement between the French School at Athens and the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens was signed by Director, Prof. Veronique Chankowski and Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska.Also, the Viceminister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk awarded Prof. Georgia Kokkorou-Alevras for her achievements in cooperation with Polish archaeologists with a Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.So – it has begun, we are officially open! 🙂
