Polish-Greek Parliamentary Group visited PAIA! On 13th of June, we had the honour of hosting a delegation from the Polish-Greek Parliamentary Group of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. Representatives of the Polish Parliament: Chairwoman, MP Wanda Nowicka, Vice-Chairman, MP Tomasz Kostuś, Member, MP Sylwia Bielawska and Secretary Krzysztof Ziółkowski stayed in Greece from 11th to 15th of June at the invitation of the Greek-Polish Friendship Group of the Greek Parliament.
The delegation was received at PAIA, where the Director of the Institute, Prof. Janusz Czebreszuk, presented to our parliamentarians the history of the establishment of the Institute, the achievements of the Institute over the five years of its existence and plans for the future. In turn, the coordinator of cultural programmes, Beata Kukiel-Vraila, discussed the activities undertaken by the Institute to promote Polish culture in Greece. The members of the delegation expressed a keen interest in the activities of the Institute, appreciating its achievements to date. The group’s chairwoman, MP Wanda Nowicka, even proposed organizing a presentation of the first PAIA publication, which consists of interviews with outstanding female researchers in Greek archaeology, in the Polish parliament. At the end of the meeting, the ladies also tried on a copy of the amber pectoral cross, which is exhibited in our institute!
On Sunday, June 15th, the director of the Institute, Prof. Janusz Czebreszuk, also took part in a meeting of the parliamentary group with representatives of Polish communities organized at the Polish Embassy in Athens.
